St Wulstan's Parish Pastoral Council
St Wulstan's Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) began
in 1995 as the "Parish Coordinating Group". It came into being
to help the new Parish Priest to get to know members of the Parish
and to develop an effective liaison between the various Parish Groups.
It met every month, and gradually members developed a close relationship
in working together to identify priorities and plan the best
way of developing an inclusive and collaborative parish way of living
out the Christian vocation with each other and with our local community.
The PPC has 12 members, including the Parish Priest. It reports annually to the Parish at the Parish Social and Annual Meeting each November, when new Members are sought, if any Member wishes to stand down. All PPC meetings are fully open to any member of the Parish, who are welcomed as "Observers" but are free to comment and express views. A few years ago, the PPC established a "Mission and Strategy Group" (MSG) to conduct a review and audit of Parish Life under 7 broad headings : Evangelisation; Worship; Word; Community; Service; Stewardship; Leadership, with Eucharist as the centre around which everything was built. The outcome form this audit was the establishing of the "Parish Plan", which aims to deliver a comprehensive schedule of activity and commitment identifiable by reference to the 7 headings and to address 3 broad parish concerns : "Youth Ministry" , " Social and Community needs", "Faith Development". The PPC communicates directly with wider parish
via the weekly Newsletter, the periodic Parish Magazine ("The Pilgrim")
and regular announcements, including occasional presentations on the Parish
Plan, at Mass. On of the members of the PPC manages directly the Parish
Library and Video Library, which contain a large stock of faith-based
books and videos for loan to parish members.
